Dr. Melissa Caswell, DVM

The leader of our team! Melissa graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2011 and joined VAH that year. In her spare time she loves dancing (ballet especially!) and being outside in nature with her husband and their two children.

Dr. Graeme Nicolson, DVM

Graeme retired from practice in January 2023. He graduated from OVC in 1989 and joined the team in 1997. We wish him all the best in his retirement!

Dr. James Byrne, DVM

James graduated from The Ontario Veterinary College in 1997. He enjoys hearing about the happiness that people's cats and dogs bring to their lives. He specializes in international pet travel and works with our dedicated team to make the preparation for your pets’ trip as organized as possible. He will speak in plain language we can all understand and lets you decide what is best for your loved ones. James was raised in the '652' community and has fond memories of a special ice cream shop on the corner in Lakefield. He loves being with his three children and their two cats Lego and Blaze. When he’s not at our clinic you will seem him walking along the waterfront or at community events. Dr. Byrnes' goal is "one day I hope to be almost as good as Dr. Nicolson"

Aliceson Dooley
Clinic Manager

Aliceson has been in the veterinary field since 2013. Graduating as a Certified Veterinary Assistant in 2017. He joined Village Animal Hospital in May of 2018. His free time is spent with his partner Brooke, son Mike and fur children that he kindly refers to as “my zoo”. Aliceson also enjoys the great outdoors, atving, fishing and camping.

Ally Hummelbrunner
Assistant Manager

Ally began her career with us in 2010. Initially she was a critical part of our Animal Care Attendant team. Through the years she has had extensive training and experience holding various positions throughout the practice. Currently she is thriving as our Assistant Manager. Outside of the clinic Ally and her wife Ashley share their lives with their two cats, Todd and Sadie. In their down time they can be found relaxing spending quality time at the family cabin.

Jocelyn Bosnell, RVT

Jocelyn graduated from Northern College in 2010. She joined the team in 2018. In Jocelyn’s spare time she enjoys being outside when she can. In the summer she spends most weekends camping with her husband and their two daughters. She also enjoys going for hikes and swimming with her senior hound mix.

Andrea Andrews, ACA

Andrea joined our team in 2022. She has a passion for animal care and makes sure your pets get lots of cuddles when they are here for their appointment.

Jaden Ven, Receptionist

Jaden graduated from the Veterinary Assistant program at Durham College in 2022. She joined our team in early May of 2022. She enjoys spending time with her dogs Kona!
